The movie 'DIL BECHARA', directed by Mukesh Chhabra, is based on John Green's novel 'The Fault in Our Stars'. It was release on Disney+Hotstar platform after several postpones due to Covid-19 pandemic. It portrays the love story of two cancer patients - Immanuel Rajkumar Junior and Kizie Basu. The love story of these two is narrated by Kizie Basu. This love story is set in a small town of India - Jamshedpur.
PLOT
The movie starts with the narration of Kizie Basu describing her boring and hopeless life. The reason of her hopelessness is that she is suffering from thyroid cancer. She has a last wish of meeting Abhimanyu Veer who had sung 'Mei Tumhara' but never completed it. During this this hopeless state she met Immanuel Rajkumar Junior (or Manny) and his friend Jagdish Pandey (or JP). Manny is suffering from osteosarcoma and his friend JP is suffering from glaucoma. Being a fan of Rajnikanth, Manny wants to make a movie like Rajnikanth with his friend JP. He invited Kizie to be the female lead of his movie. In starting, Kizie doesn't like Manny's cheerful attitude but then falls in love with him due to his behavior. She tells Manny her last wish to meet Abhimanyu Veer.
One day, Manny informs Kizie that he tracked Abhimanyu Veer and had received an e-mail from him. Kizie also emails Abhimanyu Veer, who replies to meet him if she ever visit Paris. So Kizie plans a tour with Manny. She tried to convince her parents who gave her the permission on a condition that Mrs Basu (kizie's Mother) will accompany them. During their preparation for the tour, Kizie's health condition worsens and she got hospitalised one night and she decides to have distance with Manny as he needs not to suffer for her problems but her father told her that it's Manny's choice to decide whether he wants to suffer or not.
After recovering, she tells her parents that she still wants to go to Paris to meet Abhimanyu Veer. Manny convinces her father and they went on a trip to Paris to meet Abhimanyu Veer. In Paris, Abhimanyu Veer's rude and unnatural behavior disappoints both of them. Kizie disclosed her love to Manny who bursts into tears. He informs Kizie that his Cancer has returned and is now at extreme condition. But he try to convinces her by saying that he will not die.
"I am not dying.I am not going anywhere."
After returning to India, Manny's Heath worsens. Kizie convince him to complete JP's movie to improve his Heath and divert her mind. Manny then ask Kizie and JP to give eulogies which they will deliver in his funeral. And after two days he dies. He left a letter for Kizie in which he explains to her that he had finished the song 'Mei Tumhara' but he had to take the help of Abhimanyu Veer. JP's movie is premiered in an open theatre and the crowd feel the emotions of Manny during the making of the movie.
RECORDS OF DIL BECHARA MOVIE
Dil Bechara made numerous records. It was released after the departure of beloved star "Sushant Singh Rajput " whom the fans are missing alot.
1. Dil Bechara trailer gained 70 million views in a short period of time. It was the first movie trailer on YouTube to gain 10 million likes and broke the record of Avengers Endgame and Infinity war after receiving 4 million likes in eight hours.
2. The Ott platform (Hotstar+Disney) tracks 95 million views in just 24 hrs of release of Dil Bechara. It was estimated that it would do a business of 950+ crores if it was released in theatres.
3. Dil Bechara received a rationg of 10 on IMDb within 40 minutes of it's release. It is settled on 9.8/10 rating with 21 thousand votes.
MESSAGE
The message of the movie is straight forward that we should never live a hopeless and boring life. Birth and death is not our decision but what we can decide is the way to live our lives.
